Advocacy & Support

<

DEAF are committed to supporting Individuals by providing a voice for them, defending and safeguarding their rights and enabling their views and wishes to be genuinely considered when decisions are being made about their lives.

This is done by allowing people to express their views and concerns, access information and services, defending and promoting their rights and give them choices and options.

The right to an independent advocate is recognised under the 2014 Care Act for individuals who have a “substantial difficulty” in being involved in any process and if they do not have an “appropriate adult” to support them.
